Karen's Journey

We have lots of snow!!

We have plenty of snow - come on down! We got 6-8" on Thursday night - glad that dad was home, and not out on the road fighting it. He did get to play in it with the snowblowers yesterday a.m., and went clear to the end of the block cleaning off sidewalks.

We left at 6:30 this a.m. to go over to Princeton, IL to dad's Safety Breakfast. After we had gone a ways, we decided that we were pretty foolish - I-80 hadn't been plowed!! It was such a mess - it took us almost 2 hours to go 60 miles! There were lots of cars & semi's in the ditch, but didn't see any snow plows out & about. Coming home was a bit better.

My Dr. reports continue to be good. I saw the surgeon and the radiation oncologist this week, and after the exams, they both said that the redness & soreness are both very normal......easy for them to say!! We're just thankful for the good Dr. reports!

That's all for now - have a good week-end, and stay warm!!

Love,
Karen

Hopefully your snow will stick around longer than ours did! I don't know that we will be getting a snow anytime soon but it is sure cold enough!

I am glad that all of your appointments are going well. Before long, this will all be over!! YEAH!!!

Have a good weekend and don't get into any snowball fights!

    I love you!

    Luv, Stacy

    Hi,
Like I said the kids are jealous of the snow. They can't wait for it to start again. None in the forecast.
Glad to hear that the Dr. reports are good. It has been a long and tough raod but you are so close to being done!! YEAH!!
    Take care and stay warm.
    Love,
    Krista

    Hi Karen,

Sounds like your thanksgiving was filled with blessings....and thank you for the lovely ecard you sent me. I thought I'd be having a quiet day at home for thanksgiving, but then my younger daughter Erin decided to drive up from Des Moines and spend a couple days with me, so that was nice.

You've had a long tough year with many challenges to your body, and the radiation is the tail end of it. I hope the skin damage is minor, and that you can sleep comfortably whenever you feel the need. I remember taking naps during the day, and I had not even had the stress of chemo before the radiation. So just go for it....sleep and let your body heal.

Soon this will all be behind you, and you can begin a brand new year with new hope and a new outlook, but with the strength of knowing you are blessed with a loving family whose prayers have supported you. There is no better gift than that.

I hope the heart surgery in your niece's family also goes well.

    God Bless...

    cynthia
