More Good News!!
Hello Everyone!
Well, we have more good news! I had a mammogram last Friday, and everything was clear! Yeah! Then, I had a full body CT scan on Monday, and that was also all clear! Yeah!! I had 2 appointments yesterday (Wednesday). One with Dr. Mercer, the Oncologist. He's a bit concerned because I continue to be anemic, so he gave me a shot of Araesp for my red blood cells, hoping to avoid another blood transfusion. He's a little worried with me starting radiation and being anemic, but they'll keep a close eye on me. Then, I met with Dr. Stoeffel, the Radiation Oncologist. He did his "high-class work" with his Sharpie Marker on my chest and they did a scan and more measurements. I'll have x-rays next Wednesday, and then start radiation on Thursday, the 2nd. 35 treatments - in and out in 15 minutes. It's so wonderful to see a light at the end of this very long tunnel, although I've been much luckier than others. Other than being quite tired all the time, I do feel pretty good.
And, more good news - I have peach fuzz on my head!! Can't see it, but I can feel it!! I wonder if I can't see it because it's all gray! So, Sam has quit shaving his head and so has my brother, Kurt and our friend, Roger. Thanks guys, for your support!!
Just wanted to share some good news with everyone. Keep the prayers coming - we're not out of the woods yet, but we can see the light!
Love,
Karen

TWO FRIENDS WERE WALKING THROUGH THE DESERT.
DURING SOME POINT OF THE JOURNEY THEY HAD AN ARGUMENT
AND ONE FRIEND SLAPPED THE OTHER IN THE FACE
THE ONE WHO GOT SLAPPED WAS HURT, BUT WITHOUT SAYING ANYTHING,
WROTE IN THE SAND:
TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SLAPPED ME IN THE FACE.
THEY KEPT ON WALKING UNTIL THEY FOUND AN OASIS,
WHERE THEY DECIDED TO TAKE A BATH.
THE ONE WHO HAD BEEN SLAPPED GOT STUCK IN THE MIRE
AND STARTED DROWNING, BUT THE FRIEND SAVED HIM.
AFTER HE RECOVERED FROM THE NEAR DROWNING,
HE WROTE ON A STONE:
TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SAVED MY LIFE.
THE FRIEND WHO HAD SLAPPED AND SAVED HIS BEST FRIEND
ASKED, "AFTER I HURT YOU, YOU WROTE IN THE SAND
AND NOW YOU WRITE ON A STONE.?"
THE OTHER FRIEND REPLIED
"WHEN SOMEONE HURTS US WE SHOULD WRITE IT DOWN IN THE SAND
WHERE THE WINDS OF FORGIVNESS CAN ERASE IT AWAY.
BUT, WHEN SOMONE DOES SOMETHING GOOD FOR US
WE MUST ENGRAVE IT IN STONE
WHERE NO WIND CAN EVER ERASE IT."
I HAVE LEARNED TO WRITE MY HURTS IN THE SAND
AND TO CARVE MY BENEFITS IN STONE.
THEY SAY IT TAKES A MINUTE TO FIND A SPECIAL PERSON...
AN HOUR TO APPRECIATE THEM...
A DAY TO LOVE THEM...
BUT A LIFETIME TO FORGET THEM...
WE HAVE LEARNED NOT TO VALUE THE THINGS WE HAVE IN OUR LIFE
BUT TO VALUE WHO WE HAVE HAD IN OUR LIFE...

That saying about the sand and stone is soooo wonderful. It is so true and we all forget the importance of those in our lives.
We always seem to look at the bad and take that to them. We do need to let the bad go so we truely can move on into the future with the ones we love.
I am glad things are going so well for you Karen. God has been so present in all of our lives as we keep getting hit with hard situations. I am glad for our Faith. Without it, I don't know how we could have conquered what we have.
Love to you, Steph
