Arthritis, Arthritis, Arthritis

That's what the Dr. said today - and he threw in old age, but I didn't listen when he said that!! I go to the Rheumatoid Dr. the end of June, and he said that they would do a lot of blood work then, but as of right now, I'm cancer free, and it's just arthritis!! Yeah!! And, instead of going to see Dr. Mercer every month, I've graduated to every 2 months. I also had my port taken out last Thursday - it had quit working, so it's gone. Things are looking up!!!

I also started my new job on Tuesday, the 29th, at Alcoa Credit Union. Right now, we're doing a lot of sitting and reading training manuala and watching videos, but it seems like a great place to work and only 3 miles from home. Krista - do you remember Wayne Whitesides? His mom works there, and she recognized me the first day! He's in Atlanta. Small world.

All for now - just thought I'd post an update. We're looking forward to Stacy, Krista & E, A, A, & O coming down on the 8th to do the Race for the Cure. The on the 28th, Kelly, Ron & their family will get here for a week's visit. Can't wait to see them all!!

Take care.

Hello Everyone!

Time for an update, I guess - it's been almost a month! I went to my oncologist this a.m., and as of last Saturday, May 12th, celebrated 1 year cancer free!!! Yeah!! Now that's something to celebrate! He is concerned, however, with the amount of bone pain that I am having in my shoulders, arms & legs. So, he did more blood work today, and scheduled me for another bone scan next week. We'll just have to pray that it is nothing too serious. He also has schedule for next Thursday, an appointment with my surgeon to have my port taken out, since it has stopped functioning. It was wonderful when it was working and when they needed blood, but now I guess that I'm back to the old fashioned way of the needle in the arm!!

This past week-end, Kurt and Mattie were down for the week-end, and we had such a great time. Had friends over Friday evening for a cookout, and went on The Celebration Belle Dinner Cruise on the Mississippi on Saturday night. Beautiful weather, and "a good time was had by all."

I guess that all for now - take care everyone, and Happy Spring!!

Love,
Karen

Christy & Shaun - Spring 2007

Christy & Shaun's grandma in Florida had these picutres taken and surpised us!! What a great surpise! We can't wait to see Christy & Shaun this summer. They're coming to Iowa/Illinois the end of May and will be here until July 4th week-end when their mom and dad come to pick them up. What a great time we will have! Christy will be 13 (!) by then and Shaun will be 9 in Sept. It just doesn't seem possible.!!

I just wanted to share these great pictures with all of you!

Take care!

Karen
