Hi everyone!
It's a cool, rainy Monday here - a good day to curl up on the couch with a good book and a blanket. I just may do that in a bit!
We're so excited about Kelly, Ron and the kids coming on Friday. Hurrican Ernesto is in Cuba right now and listed as a tropical storm, but if it takes a turn towards the west coast of Florida and increases in speed, they won't be coming......We would sure hate for that to happen, so pray that it disappears over the ocean.
I went to the Dr. this a.m. - supposedly to get more fluid. But, since I haven't been getting rid of the fluid they've been giving me, they decided against more. Good choice. I'm swollen up like a balloon, so they gave me a shot of Lasix. Now, they're concerned about my kidneys.......I had horrible headaches for the past 3 days and still have it, so we're trying a new drug - topamax. So, Dr. Mercer said to take 2 of those and 2 Lortabs and just chill the rest of the day. Needless to say, I didn't go to work.....It seems like it's always something, but we'll just keep plugging away. Another month, and my chemo part will be over, so hopefully my body can heal a bit before the radiation starts......
That's about it for now - thank you all for your support and your prayers - we appreciate everything that is done for us.
Love,
Karen

Hi Mom,
Sorry to hear that your trip to the Dr. wasn't what you had expected. Hopefully, the lasix will help you get rid of the extra fluid. Just remember, one day at a time!
We love you!

Hi Karen,
We're keeping an eye on Ernesto, too. As of noon, it seemed to be taking a bit of a turn to the east. That's a good thing for Southwest Florida. We're hoping for more news like that.
We were out of town last week, so I didn't call, but was thinking of you and hoping your week was going by uneventfully. It won't be long until your house is filled up again with kids and grandkids. I know you are looking forward to that! Even if they have to delay the trip, I think they still plan to make it. So things are "looking up"! And only one more month of these treatments...you're almost done! Yeah!
Talk with you sometime this week.
Linda

I hope you enjoyed your day of curling up with a book...sounds like luxury to me ! You are making progress to the goal of good health and strength again, and along the way you are realizing the blessings of family, of taking one day at a time, of stopping to find good things in each day.
I think you will find the radiation less stressful for your body...at least I hope so. I had a new type of radiation called Mammosite; you might ask your dr if you would be a candidate for that too. I had 2 treatments daily for just 5 days, instead of the usual 33 days. But if not, follow the regimen they plan for you, and look forward to feeling better soon.
You remain in my prayers....

Hi Karen,
I love those rainy days. Especially when I can be home to enjoy the cuddle to the couch time.
Why are they concerned with your kidneys? Well, you have joined the cool club because Jaden gets Lasik's a couple times a day every single day. Maybe you guys could trade notes. I bet he would like that.
Are you up for any visitors any time soon? I know Jaden would love to meet you and Sam. We could come up sometime in September if you wanted. Let us know.
Love and hugs to you, Steph
