Treatments are Finished!
Yeah!! Treatments are all done - 18 weeks of chemo and 35 radiation treatments! How awesome is that! I couldn't have done it without the support of my family and friends. You always hear of someone being diagnosed with cancer, but until the Dr. faces you and says it directly to you, it takes on a totally different meaning. It makes you look at everything in a whole new perspective.
We are so lucky to have such a wide circle of supporters - thank you so much for your prayers, your love, your emails, phone calls, scarves, anything that you did to make these past 7 months easier for Sam & I.
While I don't have a clean bill of health yet, all the Dr's are happy with what they are seeing, and they will keep a close watch on me for the next year or so. Their only advice now is to rest, rest, rest and let my body heal. I can do that. I continue to work each day, and that's a good feeling too, as my hours will increase as my body heals.
Thank you again everyone - we couldn't have done it without our family, our friends and our faith in God.
Love,
Sam & Karen

Hey Karen & Sam!
We're so glad to hear your GOOD news! We knew you were almost finished with your treatments and were just waiting to get the word that you're done! YIPPEE!!
Now...on with your other plans (enjoying life) doing fun stuff and going fun places without having to return for treatments all the time! Won't it be great?!
We are VERY happy for both of you!

Hi Mom,
I am glad to say that so far so good with the daycare. It is very busy here but we are doing very well. The kids love having other kids here to play with. Just a few loittle issues with being jealous but better with each day. The extra money will be nice for getting some things paid off.
Hope you are having a good week. We are planning on that week-end for Grandma's Birthday. We will probably just stay there and then Ken has to go to Chicago for the week! That week I may be crazy before it is all over with.
Love you,
Krista
PS. Talked to Dad today and he had the kids saying Menominie on the phone. It was cute!

Karen,
I am so glad you are done. Hopefully you will get all of your strength back really soon. I know this has been very, very hard on everyone.
But just think in a year or so when we all look back on the year 2006, we will be able to stand there with our mouths opened wide.
We will all be wondering, "how did we all make it through." But then we will know the answer to our amazed question.
"We got through it because we have so many wonderful family and friends who CARRIEED us through each moment of each day."
We love you so much and are so proud of your strength and commitment to make it through with a strong attitude.
Love,
Sal, Steph, Ash, Big E and JG
