Karen's Journey

Thursday, January 18, 2007

Hey everyone!
I haven't updated for a while, and I had a Dr. visit today, so thought this was the time to do it! Everything looks good, except I'm tired all the time. He says that a lot of that is normal - my body is still healing and will be for a while, but he wants to do a sleep study test. Our family Dr. had talked about doing one before all of this started, so one is scheduled for Jan. 31st. Yippee. That will be interesting. He also did a thyroid test and said that I was a bit dehydrated, so we'll deal with all that when I go back to him on the 5th. Other than that, everything is good!

I'd like to work more, but they're holding me to my 3 1/2 hours a day. Our census is pretty low - 60 - when it had been 100+, so when that increases, so will my hours. I'm ready to work more!

Sam is on his way home now. The last couple of days, they've been getting fed steaks, baked potatoes, veggies and dessert at work. The ATA (American Trucking Assoc.) voted the Wal-Mart Fleet of trucks the safest in the nation for the 9th year in a row, so Wal-Mart is treating their drivers and showing their appreciation. He's even bringing steaks home, so I get a taste too!

I just stirred up a batch of chili - with cold & snow in the forecast for the week-end, that sounded so good. It's cold enough, I can just sit it on the back porch!

We're looking forward to our days in AZ. We haven't been there since mom & dad were there, so that will be really strange and probably a bit difficult, but we have so many good memories of all the good times there with them. Kurt called the other night and left a message "to bring lots & lots of clothes, because once we got there, they weren't going to let us go!"

All for now! Take care and stay warm!

Love,
Karen

    Hi Mom and Dad,
It was great to talk to both of you last-night. It is a good thing that the cell phones are free or we would need a loan for our phone bill. It was 40 minutes I talked with each of you. It seems that you still never talk about everything and think of more when you hang up. It was fun to talk about the Wood Magazine and scarry that we both had the issue and talked about certain pages.
I had some kind of quiet time today so thought that I would say HI. Did you get the pictures yet? I sent a bunch to Grandma from Christmas and wrote on the backs of them. I put the date, names and who's kids they were. Hopefully she will know herself but that is on there too.
We are excited to come down for her Birthday. Like I said before we will stay the night and then Ken will go on to Chicago.
My phone is still ringing like crazy for daycare but I can't take any so now they go on the list and wait. I didn't think that I would have a problem filling up but this is crazy. I love the kids I have and things are going really well.
Take care and have a great week-end.
    Love you both,
    Krista

Yay!! Yipeee!! Yay!! Treatments are done! So glad to hear that Karen. Although the circumstances have been beyond difficult, you have had many blessings along the way throughout your journey. It sounds like things with your job are actually working perfectly...I know you would like to get back to work and back to life as ususal, but what a perfect time for you to keep the 3 1/2 hour shifts...work is not as busy right now and now your body needs the time to heal. You are forced not to over do it. Take care and you continue to be in my prayers.

    Karen,
I am so glad you are doing well, and that your work schedule allows you time to rest and heal. Please do take that time, I think it will help, and make a big difference in the long run. You can go back to being superwoman and leaping tall buildings in a single bound by summertime. Enjoy.
