Good Morning!
Sunday Morning, and it's cold here!! We had the 80's on Friday and now the 50's. Brr...
Sam walked the Race for the Cure yesterday with a group from my work. He even had a good time. He thought he was "A rose among a bunch of thorns!"...I wish that I could have taken part, but just wasn't ready for it. But, I'll be there - all dressed in pink! I've heard that next year we're doing it as a family - with the grandkids too!!
Surgery on Friday went good. The port is in, we'll give it a few days to heal, and the chemo will start on the 15th. Sam will be here the first time, and we're both glad of that. Who knows, I might not have any reactions, but the Dr. did promise me that I WOULD LOSE MY HAIR!! Sam has gotten it into his head that we're having a "head shaving party" in a couple of weeks. He can say that - his hair is only 1/2" long any way! And, Uncle Larry in PA says if Sam shaves his head, he will too! Anymore takers?? We have the clippers!!
I'm heading back to work tomorrow - no, I'm not driving - not a good idea yet. Still pretty wobbly and sometimes double vision from the Vertigo, but it is getting better each day.
Thank you everyone, again, for everything that you do for me/us - it means so much!
Love,
Karen

Hi,
I was glad to see that Dad walked the race. That is GREAT!!! We made it up for church today and now all the kids are down for a nap. It is chilly, about 55, and rainy so a good day for a nap.
Ken went and picked out all the fence stuff and all we have to do now is order the fence and put it up.
Good luck at work tomorrow. It will be good to be back!!
Love you!
Krista

Karen,
It was so good to talk with you last night. I truly know what you are going through.
I wanted to share this poem that Deanna and Debbie gave to me at Christmas. It is with true optimism and love that all will go well.
Oh Happy Day
My faith is my foundation
My hope my guiding light
Cancer came with mush frustration
With God's power I'll win this fight.
Stron will and determination,Guides me each and everyday
To success and celebration
Cancer's gone...Oh Happy Day
I can sing because I do beleive
That I am cancer free
I can sing and can thank the Lord
upon my bended knee;
I sing because I'm happy,I sing vecause I'm free,
My eye is on the sparow;
I, thank-you God for healing me
With love and prayers,
Denise

Hi Karen,
A friend from work and I also walked in the Race for the Cure on Saturday with your name filled in on our pink "In Celebration Of ..." banners. Didn't see Sam, but with all the thousands of people, it would be highly unlikely to see everyone you know. Wasn't it freezing??!! Yikes!! I hadn't seen the 50's since last winter (January?) in Florida!
Good luck this week! I'll be calling you about those scarves we talked about.
Linda

Hi Sam and Karen,
Good to see that Sam walked the race. I am sure he felt so good inside. There is not much we all can do but be here, but that for him probably felt wonderful. We prayed for you all Friday for the port being put in. We also talked about you on Saturday and kept you in our thoughts.
Jaden told me I was to send you big hugs and kisses.
Love you guys. Steph

Hi,
I hope that your first day back was a good one and that you didn't over do it! It will be good to do the normal things that you are used to as much as you can. Make sure that you keep up your strength! Walk on the days you feel good enough to walk so that you don't get weak. OK, enough nursing advice!
I am having a good day. The kids and I are going to make cookies for Ken to take to work for his Birthday tomorrow. It should be fun.
Have a good week and know that we are thinking of you often.
Love you,
Krista

Here is a lesson from the garden:
First, plant five rows of peas;
Pardon
Patience
Peace
Politeness
Power
Second, plant four rows of squash;
Squash criticism
Squash gossip
Squash indifference
Squash laziness
Next, plant six rows of lettuce;
Let us be faithful
Let us be unselfish
Let us be loyal
Let us love one another
Let us be truthful
Let us read the Bible
No garden is complete without turnips;
Turn up with a smile
Turn up with concern
Turn up with a willing spirit
Turn up with encouragement
Turn up with a testimony.
